Office Assistant (1 position)
Our intention each summer is that the life of every person who comes to camp is impacted for Christ, including our staff. As an Office Assistant, you serve as the “face” of Portage Lake Bible Camp, providing the hospitality and administrative excellence that allows our ministry to flourish. This is a unique opportunity to lead, disciple, and be mentored while gaining professional skills in a vibrant Christian community.
General Qualifications

Age & Education: At least 18 years of age. One year of college or post-high school experience is preferred.

Spiritual Maturity: A personal relationship with the Lord, a basic understanding of the Bible, and a desire to see others grow spiritually.

Character: A positive Christian role model with a servant-hearted attitude and a team-player mindset.

Alignment: Commitment to the beliefs and values of Portage Lake Bible Camp and the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Environment: Eager to live and serve in a rustic, “unplugged” camp setting.
Specific Qualifications

Hospitality: A friendly, welcoming demeanor for all guests and staff.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail for proofreading and correspondence.

Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneDrive) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms).

Adaptability: The ability to multitask effectively in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.

Experience: Previous office administration experience is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Administrative & Hospitality

Office Operations: Answer phone calls, greet guests, and perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Office Manager and year-round staff.

Registration: Master the camp registration software and phone systems. Arrive early on registration days to facilitate all pre-registration and check-in tasks.

Communications: Assist with the creation and proofreading of emails, flyers, and other camp materials.
Camp Life & Ministry

Cabin Support: Support the counseling staff by engaging with an assigned cabin throughout the day (as applicable) and sleeping in the cabin each night.

Program Involvement: Participate in camp life by attending events, games, and chapel unless otherwise directed by leadership.

Staff Engagement: Fully participate in training, onboarding, and all staff meetings or debriefs.
Service & Upkeep

Accountability: Report directly to the Office Manager.

Stewardship: Maintain a clean and tidy cabin and shared staff spaces.

General Service: Assist with general camp cleaning, property maintenance, and kitchen duties as needed to support the overall mission.
Note: As the first point of contact for many families, your role is essential in setting the tone for their camp experience, ensuring every interaction reflects the love and excellence of Christ.

**Reference letters do not have to be submitted just the application and the pending references.
**Applicants must commit to the entirety of the PLCBC summer season (end of May-mid August) to receive bonus.
New staff applicants must have 3 types references: one academic, one spiritual, and one professional. Returning applicants are required to have 1 new reference. You may not use family members, peers or friends, anyone under the age of 18, or a current PLCBC staff member as a reference.
