Cleaning Crew Supervisor (1 Position)
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Completed at least one year of college or equivalent post–high school experience (two years preferred).
- Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a foundational understanding of the Bible.
- Models Christ-like character with a positive, servant-hearted attitude.
- Commits to living and working in alignment with the beliefs and values of Portage Lake Bible Camp and the Evangelical Covenant Church.
- Works well as a team player and is willing to assist beyond assigned duties as needed.
- Possesses a strong desire to foster personal and spiritual growth in others.
- Is eager and able to live and serve in a rustic, unplugged camp environment.
- Demonstrates strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage schedules, delegate tasks, and oversee projects effectively.
- Familiarity with cleaning techniques, equipment, and safety protocols preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible to the Facilities Director
- Supervise, guide, and train cleaning staff and those that assist in cleaning camp
facilities.
- Inspect areas to ensure cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and meet high standards of cleanliness.
- Keep track of cleaning inventory and notify the Facilities Director when supplies are
running low.
- Participate in and engage in all aspects of staff training and on-boarding.
- Keep cleaning supplies organized in their respected storage areas.
- Build intentional relationships with and work alongside the Cleaning Crew.
- Oversee the collection, cleaning, and storage of weekly “Lost and Found” items.
- Lead team debriefs with Cleaning Crews at the end of each week. (See below for Cleaning Crew Responsibilities)
- Involvement in programming through attending events, games, chapel, etc.
- Support counseling staff by engaging in an assigned cabin throughout the day and sleeping in their cabin with campers each night.
- Be an initiator and supporter of healthy, life-giving community among the summer staff.
- Assist in organizing, leading, and participating in general camp cleaning, maintenance, and assist in the kitchen as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy cabin and all shared spaces.
- Timely attendance and participation in all staff meetings and debrief.
Cleaning Crew Responsibilities
- Perform both routine and special cleaning tasks to maintain sanitation and order in all physical areas of camp.
- Trash removal from the dining hall (after every meal), cabins, and outdoor trash cans.
- Complete morning tasks:
ü Clean cabin bathrooms, refill paper towels and toilet paper, clean mirrors, take out the cabin trash (during chapel hour), check outdoor trash cans.
- Complete afternoon tasks
ü Clean common areas (ex: canteen, white house, welcome center, lakeside cross area, gaga ball, volleyball, broom ball)ü Check all outdoor trash cans.
- Assist with maintenance or program needs per the Facility Director’s assignment.
- Other tasks might include, but are not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting doorknobs, washing windows
Cleaning Expectations
- Restrooms
ü Thoroughly clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, and fixtures.ü Replenish supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap.ü Empty trash bins
- Waste Management
ü Collect and dispose of trash from all areas, including dining hall trash to the dumpster.ü Replace liners in trash receptacles in both inside and outside areas
- Supply Management
ü Restock cleaning supplies, paper products and toiletries in closetsü Ensure all cleaning equipment and products are stored safely and securely away from guests and campers.
- Maintenance and Reporting
ü Report issues about maintenance or repair needs, such as broken equipment or damaged fixtures to the Cleaning Crew Supervisor.ü Adhere to all health and safety rules, including the proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Special tasks
ü May be required to handle special cleaning projects, such as carpet cleaning, heavy duty cleaning of walls, and emesis clean up.

**Applicants must commit to the entirety of the PLCBC summer season (end of May-mid August) to receive bonus.
New staff applicants must have 3 types references: one academic, one spiritual, and one professional. Returning applicants are required to have 1 new reference. You may not use family members, peers or friends, anyone under the age of 18, or a current PLCBC staff member as a reference.
