Media & Tech Staff (2 positions)
Our mission each summer is that the life of every person who comes to camp is impacted for Christ, including our staff. As a summer staff member, you step into an instrumental role of ministry and leadership. This position offers a unique opportunity to live in Christian community, disciple campers, and be mentored in your walk with Christ while developing professional skills that will serve you well beyond the summer.
In this dual role, you will be the eyes and ears of camp—capturing the “story” of the week through photography and videography while facilitating the worship experience through audio/visual support.
General Qualifications
-
Age & Education: At least 18 years of age. Preference is given to those who have completed one year of college or post-high school experience.
-
Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrates a personal relationship with the Lord, a basic Biblical understanding, and a commitment to the values of Portage Lake Bible Camp and the Evangelical Covenant Church.
-
Character: A positive Christian role model with a servant’s heart and a desire for personal growth.
-
Community: Willingness to live in an intentional, rustic, and “unplugged” Christian community.
-
Flexibility: A team player who is ready to serve outside their primary job description whenever needed.
Specific Technical Qualifications
-
Visual Arts: Proven experience in both videography and photography is required.
-
Editing: Proficiency in computer software for photo and video editing.
-
Audio/Visual: Experience running audio and visual equipment for worship services is highly preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Media & Production
-
Content Capture: Attend events, games, and chapel to capture high-quality photos and video. Use free time to “float” around camp for candid footage.
-
Editing & Delivery: Create weekly highlight videos and slideshows; produce a summer-long promotional video for future recruiting and marketing efforts.
-
Distribution: Upload photos to SmugMug daily for parent and guest viewing.
-
Equipment Stewardship: Responsible for the care, maintenance, and organization of all camp media equipment.
Technical Support
-
Worship AV: Work closely with the Worship Director and Camp Speaker to run the soundboard and visuals during worship times.
-
Accountability: Report directly to the Marketing Director.
Camp Life & Ministry
-
Cabin Engagement: Support the counseling staff by engaging with an assigned cabin during the day and sleeping in the cabin with campers each night.
-
Staff Participation: Fully engage in staff training, onboarding, and timely attendance at all staff meetings and debriefs.
-
Service & Upkeep: Maintain a clean cabin and shared staff spaces. Assist in general camp maintenance, cleaning, and kitchen duties as required.
Note: This role is a blend of technical expertise and relational ministry. You aren’t just behind a lens; you are an active part of the community, helping to translate the camp experience into a lasting memory for families and a tool for the Gospel.
