A New Call

I’ve often been asked how I stay so excited about the ministry of Portage Lake. The answer is really simple: It’s easy to be passionate when you continue to witness the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. For almost ten years I’ve had the privilege of watching lives be impacted for Christ at Portage Lake Bible Camp.

Starting as an intern in 2008, having just graduated from North Park, single, and only having ever been to PLCBC once before, I really had no idea the journey that would follow. Since then not only has my position has changed, three years as Program Director and over five years as Associate Director, but my life has been shaped by the work and people of Portage Lake.

Portage Lake will always be a special place to me. I met my husband Eric here in 2009. We built our marriage and family here. Our kids, Norah (4 years old) and Luke (3 years old), love living here. (Although they still ask to “go to camp”, mostly to play carpetball and visit the canteen.)

I was confident God had called me to PLCBC in 2008, and continued to call me into subsequent positions and roles here. Now I am certain of a new call, to be able to stay home and be a mom to Norah and Luke.

Eric and I are excited about this next chapter in our life and also so glad that although my job is ending, we will still be at Portage Lake for a while. I will continue to oversee special projects in the coming year.

I am so grateful to you, the PLCBC family. Thank you for your love and support over the years. I pray your experience at camp was enriched by my time here. And I am so excited to see what God has in store for our family and for Portage Lake Bible Camp.

I look forward to seeing you soon at camp. You’ll likely find Norah, Luke and me on the beach, playing carpetball or at the canteen!
